This village sits at the tail end of the Galt Moraine. The deposit left behind is sand and gravel through which rain passes almost immediately, and the nearest creek is twelve kilometres away, so nothing in the landscape retains moisture.

Our tree trimming calendar is set by the oak ridge crossing this area. A fungal disease called oak wilt is fatal to oak, and beetles drawn to fresh sap ferry it from one tree to the next.
Warm weather is the only time those beetles are on the wing. The very same cut in January is entirely safe, and that is why we place all oak tree trimming inside the dormant months.
A number of the trees in Scotland went into the ground in the 1840s, and people are genuinely fond of them. Removal is not what anybody wants, and usually it is not what should happen.
Tree trimming, specifically a canopy reduction and sometimes steel alongside it, is what an old tree normally needs. Compared with felling, the cost is small, and the result is that something which cannot be replaced stays where it is.
A tree trimming price comes down to three variables. The first is the size of the tree. The second is what occupies the ground below it. The third is how close a vehicle can be brought to the stem.
Cheapest of all tree trimming is a tree at a field edge with nothing but grass below, and Scotland has no shortage of those. Take that same tree to a Simcoe Street lot with a garage alongside and cables above, and the tree trimming cost multiplies. Tree removal is justified on three grounds. The tree has died, it has a structural defect no cut will remedy, or it has simply become too large for where it was put.

Any tree trimming visit opens with a survey of the whole property. Trees set out along one fence line in a single season generally develop matching defects, so the tree that prompted your call is rarely the only candidate.
The next decision is the tree trimming method for each limb. Grass underneath means a section can simply be cut free and allowed to drop. Shingles, fencing or a parked vehicle underneath means rigging lines instead.
When the tree trimming ends the brush is chipped, the larger wood is either piled up or loaded out according to your instructions, and the ground is raked over. An improved tree ought to be the only evidence we were there.

Most tree trimming happens between the leaf fall and bud break, when the framework of a tree is visible. Because this ground is sand, a truck travels on it in nearly all conditions, and we are not waiting for frost the way a company on clay must. Oak tree trimming is winter-only, every time. Dead wood gets attention in any month.
On this crest it usually means water rather than disease. After several thirsty summers a mature tree abandons its uppermost wood first, since that is the dearest part to keep supplied. Tree trimming cuts the demand back, and slow watering through dry weather finishes the job.
Risk falls, danger does not disappear. Removing mass from the outside of a canopy shortens the lever the wind works with, and on exposed ground that counts for a great deal. It cannot reach decay inside a trunk or reset a root plate that has already moved.
For one tree in a village yard, usually not. The County woodland by-law does catch woodlots, groups of trees, and land tied into a development application, and the swamp edge toward Oakland has its own considerations. We confirm with the County before booking where any of that applies.
You settle that, and the quote prices it either way. Chipping the brush and hauling it off happens no matter what. Larger wood can be sawn into firewood and left in a pile of your choosing, or it can go on the truck as well.
Species and height are handy if they are known to you, though neither is essential. The road name is essential, because truck access is what really drives the figure.
